Principal's / Vice Principal's Message

Welcome to Charles H. Hulse Public School!

Here at Hulse we provide a safe, inclusive, and caring school environment to a vibrant and diverse community of learners and their families. Our equitable approach to education supports every student’s achievement and well-being, ensuring they reach their highest potential. Through positive and trusting relationships, our dedicated staff are responsive to individual student learning styles, interests, strengths, and needs. With engaging and enriching programs and activities being offered at our school, we strive to support our students to grow into collaborative, caring, resilient, and productive global citizens.

We are a single track school located in the South-East end of Ottawa offering an English program to students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. Our program also includes support in the areas of English Literacy Development, English as a Second Language, Special Education, and Developmental Disabilities.

Charles H. Hulse P.S. stands on a beautiful stretch of land with plenty of space for our students to enjoy outdoor play at recess, during Physical Education classes and school-wide events. We are in walking distance to the Ottawa Public Library and the Jim Durrell Recreation Centre. Further, we have a great partnership with the students at Ridgemont H.S., many of whom are Charles H. Hulse alumni, who return to assist as Co-op students and help out with classroom and recess activities for our students.

Our dedicated school team, with the help of committed volunteers and School Council, offers a variety of extracurricular activities in athletics and the arts. As we work to prepare students for the 21st century,  we strive to embed skills and characteristics from our OCDSB Exit Outcomes across all curricular areas. Our students are encouraged to set high standards for themselves and develop positive and collaborative work habits as responsible members of our school community.

Our School Learning Plan is developed annually. This year our focus continues to be on developing Math and Numeracy skills. Other school priorities for this year include wellbeing, equity, growth mindset, and mindfulness. A variety of enriching programs being offered to our students include Youth Fusion, I Love to Play, Young Rembrandts Drawing Classes, and Mindmasters.

We look forward to an exciting, productive and fulfilling school year and to working with you as a partner in supporting your child's education. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Jennifer Offord, Delano Son, Principal Vice Principal
